[ The problem ]

Home maintenance lives in junk drawers: manuals nobody saved, warranties nobody can find, reminders that exist only as guilt. For property managers and technicians the problem multiplies across buildings. Nest Tracker needed to make a traditionally cluttered category feel calm — for a homeowner with one house and an admin overseeing many.

[ Goals ]

One glance — the health of every property from a single dashboard. Natural drill-down — home to room to asset in single clicks. Fast setup — structure a whole home in minutes, not hours. Trustworthy automation — AI decisions logged and visible, never silent.

    Approach

The architecture follows how people think about their homes: property, room, asset. The dashboard surfaces what matters across every property; the house view gives a room-by-room snapshot; the asset page holds everything about one appliance — documents, history, warranty, reminders. Setup got special attention, because value starts after inventory exists: guided Add Room and Add Asset drawers reduce a dozen decisions to a few structured steps. A built-in manual finder kills the worst chore in the category. A flexible reminder system keeps maintenance moving. User management unifies homeowners, technicians and admins under one model — and AI Logs make every automated decision transparent.

9 | Surfaces, dashboard to AI logs 3 | Roles unified — owner, technician, admin 1 | Living record per home, rooms to receipts

Scattered notes and misplaced manuals become a well-organized living record: every room, asset and task with a clear place and purpose, from single-home owners to multi-property operations. The AI Logs matter beyond the feature list — automation people can audit is automation people keep switched on.

    What I carry forward

In cluttered categories, the product is the org chart. Get property → room → asset right and every feature after it lands in an obvious place.
